Overcoming Anxiety Day 2: You can have peace in the middle of a crazy situation.
You can have peace in the middle of a crazy situation.
Have a minute? Have a listen:
Or read the post here:
You may have seen the eye of a hurricane on a weather map. In the middle of all the crazy, fierce winds, pounding rain, and debris, is a small and serene space.
In the dead center of chaos is stillness.
Have you ever seen a ballet dancer do a series of
spins? If you’ve never taken dance
lessons, you would think they get seriously dizzy, right? I took ballet for a while, and I learned the
trick to spinning without getting dizzy.
The key is to choose a single focal point, and with every revolution you
make, you make eye contact with that one focal point. You can spin as fast as you want, and if you
are focusing on one thing while you’re turning, you won’t get dizzy and fall.
The key to keeping your peace while you’re in the middle of
a life storm, is to choose a single focal point. If you’re checking the news every hour on
the hour or scrolling social media to see what everyone else is doing, you’re
not going to be able to sleep that well.
Your peace isn’t going to come from the influx of information available
to us.
If you’re looking for a way to keep your peace in the middle
of any situation, look no further than the One who created you. It doesn’t mean bad things won’t happen. It just means there is hope you can hold onto
to help you get through the bad days.
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in
every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God. And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in
Christ Jesus.”
Question: Where is your focus today?
